To mark the new year, a brand new forum will launch in Gwynedd and Anglesey. Codi Cymru will be running a special forum for women aged 13-18 to voice their opinions, share concerns and get to know each other better.

The forum sessions will be led by Casi Cartwright and co-ordinated by Menter Môn and Hunaniaith.

The forum aims to offer young women a safe place to share their feelings about topical topics such as mental health, self-image, feeling safe and period poverty.

Creative workshops will also be offered to the women as part of the forum.

Casi said: “We’ll create a circle of love, a safe circle for you to open up and be whoever you want to be.

I’m reaching out to you and asking you to come and join me for a chat about life, to talk about your experiences, so that we can all learn from each other”.

Jade Owen, Menter Môn’s Project Officer who is co-ordinating the project, said: “Being able to offer safe sessions like this to women where everyone is there for the same reason and willing to listen to each other is really uplifting.

With so many concerns facing young women and many of these concerns having been in the media lately, some are finding it difficult to discuss what is troubling them, so the hope is that the forum will offer that place to these women”.

The sessions will be virtual events with the first happening on the 9th of February. The sessions will run fortnightly over a 12 week period. If you’re interested in attending the forum or would like to receive more information, please contact jade@mentermon.com before the 26th of January to declare your interest.
