Theatr Ieuenctid Môn, is an artistic project run by Menter Môn which has succeeded in encouraging and igniting the interest of Ynys Môn’s children and young people in many aspects of the theatre world since it established in 2000.
This year the Theatre will face exciting changes, starting by centralizing the weekly sessions to Llangefni, in order to bring any child or young person aged 7-18 who is looking for that theatre provision, together at Theatr Fach Llangefni.
Carwyn Jones, Chair of the Theatr Fach Committee noted: “As a Community Theatre that is led entirely by volunteers, we’re very excited at the opportunity to collaborate with Menter Môn in order to develop the theatrical provision available to the young people of the island. Being able to offer children and young people the experience of performing in theatre productions is extremely important and is a great privilege for us. We look forward to seeing the members’ confidence and skills develop over the coming months and years.”
The weekly sessions will give members the opportunity to try scipt writing, to take part in performance workshops and to learn about what happens backstage, as well as taking part in public performances.
Nia Haf has recently received a new responsibility to coordinate the Theatre, and this is what she had to say:
“We have so many cool plans underway – lots of masterclasses, lots of new experiences, lots of collaboration – and I hope we have a fun first term whilst getting to know each other and what we want to achieve over the next year! I’m also very excited that we have the opportunity to be part of the panto at Theatr Fach this year.
I’m looking forward to collaborating with Aria Studios, and making the most of the opportunities we can offer to the young people on the island. From set trips at Rownd a Rownd to taking advantage of the creative connections that we have at RONDO, there will be plenty going on. We’re also in talks with several other local community groups, so watch this space – TIM is back with a bang!”
TIM Mawr sessions for young people aged 11-18 will be held from 6-8 on Tuesday evenings and TIM Bach for children aged 7-11 will be held from 6-8 on Wednesday evenings. Register your interest in joining us here: https://forms.office.com/e/V7UtqAW9HT
