Over a two day period, Public Sector Catering EXPO is being held in Birmingham which includes an exhibition of over 100 suppliers and live demonstrations. Suppliers involved in this event include Menter Môn’s Larder Cymru project.
Larder Cymru is a brand new Menter Môn project, following on from the successful Môn Larder project. The project will be working with public procurement in the food sector, working to ensure that food is grown and used locally and that the supply chains are as short as possible.
Larder Cymru’s visit to the show in Birmingham aims to promote Welsh food and drink suitable for supply to the public sector, and create links with other suppliers across the UK.
Craig Hughes, Project Manager for Larder Cymru, says – “It’s really exciting to be here at the Birmingham NEC with Larder Cymru on behalf of Menter Môn to promote Welsh food and drink producers and products. Larder Cymru is keen to develop links and strengthen networks across the UK, developing a better understanding of supply chains outside Wales. ”
Dafydd Gruffydd is the Managing Director of Menter Môn – “One of the main aims of food and drink procurement is its social value. As a company that works for the benefit of the community, social value is very important to Menter Môn and Larder Cymru isn’t any different.”
he added – “The main purpose of the project is to ensure that the public procurement of food and drink is kept local and that Welsh produce is used wherever possible. The result would be to support the local economy, support Welsh producers and farmers and protect the environment while keeping supply chains shorter. It’s great to see that Welsh producers and farmers are being seen at this event by suppliers across the UK”.
The Public Sector Catering EXPO is being held over two days (15 + 16 March) at the NEC building in Birmingham.
