Communities in Anglesey will soon benefit thanks to the success of a social enterprise to attract significant funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).
Having secured the funds Menter Môn can continue to pursue its mission to make a difference to communities on the island, with a particular emphasis under this scheme on language and culture; age friendly communities; low carbon communities; environment and biodiversity. The Shared Prosperity Fund aims to build pride in place and increase life opportunities across the UK – which fits with Menter Môn’s vision as it aims, in partnership with the Isle of Anglesey County Council to ensure the funding has a positive impact across the island.
Welcoming the funding, Dafydd Gruffydd, Managing Director of Menter Môn, said: “This is excellent news for us as an organisation and for Anglesey. For over 25 years, Menter Môn has led projects that have brought economic, environmental and cultural benefits to local communities. This funding will undoubtedly allow us to continue empowering communities to be self-reliant and to make the most of their strengths and uniqueness.
“With increasing challenges and financial pressures facing everyone, receiving this funding is significant and the work to ensure that the support reaches the right places and makes a difference starts now. Communities will be able to benefit from support, and we look forward to sharing further details about how they can do this on our website and social media over the coming weeks.”
With £1.6 million from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and the NDA, Menter Môn is ready to take its mission of empowering Anglesey’s communities forward. With its focus on language, culture, and sustainability, this funding reinforces the commitment to fostering resilient communities.
